Slater After Hours:

September 24, 2024 @ 6 pm:" I Know What You're Thinking" a mind reading show with Gregg Dwyer.

This mix of magic, psychology and intuition will leave you astonished,

entertained and maybe a little unnerved. Gregg started out as an escape

artist and illusionist working with Doug Henning’s Broadway hit “the Magic

Show”. This is going to be a lot of fun!

Friends of Slater Library hosting Huge Book/Yard Sale! Stop by the

Griswold Town Hall parking lot to browse for books, DVDs and so much

more! Please visit our website for information on book donations.

Tuesday, October 15th @2 6PM

Heroes & Headaches: New England’s Story of Pirates and Pirate Hunters

presented by Luca Rebussini. Come sail back in time with us to a sea ruled

by Pirates and learn about their reign of terror and those who hunted them

down. This interactive, educational program (of course it is educational,

Luca is a Social Studies teacher) will highlight the who and why along with

weapons and tactics. Join us to explore this fascinating time in history.

Tuesday, November 19th @ 6PM

• Griswold High School Chamber Choir directed by Raymond Churchill. 

This 20-member group is known for their acapella arrangements regularly

winning awards and acclamation in competitions across the state and

country. They will be presenting a variety of music highlighting the

upcoming holiday season. This program will be open to all ages, families

welcome.

   Join us at Slater Library for these fun, entertaining and informative events. After Hours @ Slater Library

are for Adult/Teen Audiences except this year’s Choir event is Multi-Generational, and free! Please stop in at 26

Yarn and Darn!

Third Fridays of each month, 3-4pm

A drop-in program for all ages and abilities! Bring any handwork that you are working on: knitting, crocheting, embroidery, sewing - you name it!

Tech Support

Wednesday afternoons from 4-5pm

Call the Library @ (860) 376-0024 to sign up for help with your technology questions. Appointments are 15 minutes, unless more time is requested.

Chess Club

First Saturdays at 11am

A drop-in program for all abilities and ages! This is not a learn-to-play program.

Games begin @ 11am. 

Book Clubs

Various Days!

Call (860) 376-0024 to sign-up for our book clubs! Books will be available a few weeks before the meeting. Staff will contact participants when books are available to pick up.

Adult Crafts

Adult Crafts are offered at Slater Library during the day.  Stay tuned for upcoming Fall and Christmas craft events on our calendar and social media.

Baby and Me
Tuesdays, 9:30am, Fall 10-week session starting 9/17/24

Sign-up is required and begins August 26th. 

Songs, Rhymes and Stories with Ashley LaBarbera for ages 6-18 months and caregivers.

Toddler Story Time
Tuesdays, 10:30am, Fall 10-week session starting 9/17/24

Sign-up is required and begins August 26th. 

Music, movement, stories and crafts with Mrs. Brown. For toddlers ages 2-3 with siblings welcome!

 
Wee Play!

Fridays at 11am (year-round)

This is an informal time where you can play with toys, check out books, and connect with other caregivers. A great way to introduce your children to the library!


Saturday Stories
Second Saturday of each month, 10:30am

STEAM Kits

Slater Library has added 7 STEAM Kits containing books, educational games and puzzles to our children's collection! Parents and Caregivers may check out these kits for a two-week period. These kits, encompassing Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) cover a variety of themes. Learn more on our "Children's Department" webpage
