Slater Library’s 2024 Summer Learning Program

Read, Renew, Repeat! 

June 14th – August 10th

Join us for Summer Reading events from June 14 - August 10, 2024!  All events take place at Slater Library, 26 Main St., Jewett City, CT 06351. Questions about any the events below, or want to sign up for an event? Call (860) 376-0024 and ask for the Children’s Department.

Summer Bingo

Sign up to win free books and a chance for a bigger prize if you fill in your card! See the bingo card for rules and details. For children Preschool-aged through age 12. Sign-up starts June 14th. The program runs through August 10th. Any prizes won will be announced on Monday, August 12th. 

Outdoor Kickoff Event Under the Tents! June 14th, 2-4pm

Meet the animals from Waterford Country School Petting Zoo on the library lawn and take part in activities and crafts using recycled materials! Stop in and create and sign up for our events and Summer Bingo!

“Pesky Plastics: An Environmental Story” - Tues. 7/2 @ 3pm w/DEEP, ages 5 and up.

Light Pollution 101 w/ Last Green Valley - Tues. 7/9 @ 4pm. Ages 6 and up.

Vermicomposting  Learn about Indoor Composting with Worms! with Cheryl LeBeau - Thurs. 7/11 @ 6pm. Ages 8-Adults.

Animal Rehabilitation Stories with Dension Pequotsepos Nature Center - Tues. 7/16 @ 4pm. Hear the stories, meet the animals! Ages 5 and up.

”Redwoods,” by Jason Chin - Wed. 7/24 @ 3pm w/DEEP, ages 5 and up.

Bluey Story Time! - Sat. 8/10 @ 10:30am. Sign up is required. Stories, crafts and games for the littles!

Upcycle Arts! 

Make something awesome from what you already have! (sign-up required, ages 7+). Sign up for one or all six!

Wed. Aug. 7th @ 4pm  - Decorate a Jar with Book Pages

Weekly Drop-in Activities:

Recycle Craft Corner – Different crafts from book pages, recycled materials and cardboard every week! Stop in and create!

Scavenger Hunt! – Find the items around the children's area and get a prize!

Let’s Lego! Stop in and build Thursdays 12:30-6pm!

Wee Play! Drop in for our weekly playgroup Fridays @ 11am!
